White Pass Summit Tours
White Pass Summit Classic: 3-hours
We start with a short tour throughout the town of Skagway. Next we take a drive to the top of the White Pass Summit climbing 3292 feet to experience the Alaskan alpine environment at its best! Viewing huge glacial fed waterfalls along the way you will hear the colorful history of Skagway and the Gold Rush. Throughout the tour we have plenty of stops allowing time for photos and short walks.
Then we’ll visit the Klondike Gold Rush Cemetery where you hear the story of the legendary gun battle between two of Skagway’s most renowned characters, the town hero Frank Reid and the famous outlaw “Soapy” Smith. If we have the time and the energy we can hike to Lower Reid Falls.
To finish the tour we stop at the towns Scenic Overlook, with its spectacular view it is a great opportunity for photos overlooking your Cruise Ships.
White Pass Summit Express: 1.5 hours
$195 + tax
White Pass Summit & Dyea: 3-hours
In addition to the White Pass Summit tour, this drive takes a detour along the Fjord’s coast to the ghost town of Dyea. Once a boom town of 20,000, it is a great place learn about the Native American and Glacial history as well as the Gold Rush. With a stop at the historic Chilkoot trailhead, the prospects are good that we will encounter seasonal wildlife. Early summer offers a chance to see bird and sea life feeding on the hooligan as they run up the estuary. Late summer (August & September) offers the chance at viewing bears feeding on salmon just off the road in the Tyia River.
White Pass Summit & Jewell Gardens: 3-hours
Additional fees of $12.50 per person are paid onsite.
Drive to the top of the White Pass Summit and then stop at Jewell Gardens . See huge Alaska grown produce, beautiful flowers, and fantastic garden art. Hear why Skagway was once called the “Garden City” of Alaska. Poke your head into the glassblowing studios onsite and watch the talented glassblowers shape molten glass into beautiful works of art. Also offering a glass gallery and gift shop onsite, your admission ticket is good all day.
